When Your Roof Can't Wait
A roof leak at 11pm in January does not care about office hours. A tree branch through your deck during a storm does not either. We get it. If something has gone seriously wrong with your roof and you are an existing Seam Roofing customer, call us at (647) 371-0932. We respond to emergencies because that is part of being a roofing company people can actually rely on.
We cover emergency situations across various service areas including Toronto, Oakville, Mississauga, Vaughan, Markham, Brampton, Pickering, and Hamilton. Our services include metal roofing, flat roof systems, and asphalt shingles. Our emergency response is designed to stop the damage first, then figure out what permanent work is needed.
Fast Response When Roofing Damage Strikes
Some of the worst property damage we have seen started as something that could have been stopped early. A small storm breach turns into a soaked ceiling. An ice dam leak that showed up in January that no one dealt with until March. The longer a roof is open to the elements, the worse the numbers get, and they get worse fast.
When you call us for emergency work, we will tell you honestly what we can do and how quickly we can get there. We do not promise response times we cannot keep. What we do promise is that when we show up, we come with the materials to actually secure the roof, not just to take a look and put you on a callback list.
We provide emergency roofing repairs across Toronto and the GTA, with fast response times for storm damage, active leaks, and structural concerns.
What Qualifies as a Roofing Emergency in Ontario?
Some calls are genuine emergencies. Others are urgent but do not need someone on-site at midnight.
It is an emergency when:
- Water is actively coming through your ceiling or walls during rain or snowmelt
- A tree, branch, or windborne debris has gone through the roof deck
- Wind has lifted or separated roofing panels or shingles and the area is fully exposed
- An ice dam is actively forcing water into the building
- You are seeing structural sagging or visible deck damage from the inside
It is urgent but not an emergency when:
- A shingle is missing but there is no active leak
- Flashing has come loose at a chimney or vent but the weather has been dry
- You noticed damage after a storm but the area is still weathertight
Storm Damage and Wind Uplift
Ontario storms move fast. A thunderstorm that comes through in the afternoon can produce enough wind to lift shingles, peel back a metal panel at an edge, or tear a flat roof membrane at a seam. Hail does its own kind of damage. It can puncture single-ply membranes, crack shingles across a large area, or dent standing seam metal in a severe hailstorm.
When we get to your property after storm damage, the first priority is stopping the exposure. That means securing lifted panels or shingles, getting temporary waterproofing over any punctures or open areas, and making sure the building is closed up before more weather arrives. We also photograph and document the damage thoroughly, both because it is the right way to work and because your insurance company is going to want it.
Ice Dam Emergencies and Winter Damage
Ice dams catch people off guard because the leak usually shows up on a warm day, not the coldest one. Here is what happens: heat from inside the building warms the roof deck, melts the snow sitting on it, and the water runs down toward the eaves. The eaves are cold, the water refreezes, and a dam starts to form. As that dam grows, it traps meltwater against the surface, and eventually that water finds its way under the shingles and into the building.
By the time you see water on a ceiling, the dam has usually been building for days. We can remove the ice dam, stop the active leak, and get the area temporarily sealed. Then the real conversation is about why it happened: usually inadequate attic ventilation or insulation gaps, because the dam will come back next winter if the underlying cause is not addressed.
Flat Roof Leaks and Membrane Failures
Flat roofing emergencies tend to happen during or right after heavy rain. Ponding water that exceeds what a drain can handle will start testing every seam in the membrane. A seam that has been slowly weakening from sun exposure gives out under that pressure. A puncture from debris that was small in dry weather becomes a significant leak in a downpour.
For commercial buildings in Toronto's core, Mississauga, and Brampton, we carry TPO and EPDM patching materials for emergency response. For torch-on systems common in older residential and mixed-use buildings, we can do hot-work repairs once conditions allow. The goal on a flat roof emergency is the same as on any other: get the water stopped, get the area documented, and then assess what permanent repair looks like.
Metal Roofing Emergency Repairs
Metal roofs fail under emergency conditions less often than other systems, but it does happen. High wind is the main culprit. Standing seam panels are designed to handle thermal movement, but extreme wind loads can disengage the interlock system on a panel, especially at roof edges and ridges. Falling trees and large branches can puncture panels regardless of gauge. On older exposed-fastener metal roofs, fastener fatigue is a real failure mode.
Emergency metal roofing work requires compatible materials. You cannot patch steel with an incompatible metal and expect it to hold. We carry panel stock and fasteners for the most common metal roofing systems, and we understand how to work on standing seam without compromising the thermal expansion capability of adjacent panels. A bad repair on a standing seam roof can create more problems than the original damage.
Our Emergency Response Process
When you call
When our agent picks up, they will ask a few questions: Is water actively coming in? How large is the affected area? Has anything structural been compromised? That is not a script. It is what we need to know to figure out how fast to move and what to bring. We will give you a realistic arrival estimate based on your location and current conditions.
When we arrive
We assess and document first. Photos, written notes, cause of failure if it is apparent. Then we stabilize. Stabilization means the building is weather-tight when we leave: a secured tarp, a temporary patch, sealed panel seams, or cleared drains causing overflow. We do not leave a property exposed.
After stabilization
You get a written summary of what we found, what was done, the probable cause, and what permanent repair looks like with an estimate. If it turns out the damage warrants replacement rather than repair, we will say so, with the reasons explained, not just a recommendation.
On insurance
Emergency work from storm or ice events is frequently covered under property insurance. Our documentation, which includes photos, cause assessment, and repair records, is formatted to support an insurance claim. We can work with your adjuster directly if that helps.
Permanent repairs
Scheduled at your convenience once emergency work is done. Same materials, same standards as a full installation, backed by our 10-year labor warranty.

Our 5-step process to an emergency response
Immediate Contact and Assessment
We respond to emergency calls as quickly as possible, understanding that delays mean more damage. When you call (647) 371-0932, you speak directly with someone who can dispatch our emergency response team. We gather critical information about your situation including the nature of the emergency, whether water is actively entering, if anyone is in immediate danger, and your property location to calculate response time. We communicate clear response time expectations and provide immediate advice on steps you can take to minimize damage while our team is en route.
On-Site Emergency Evaluation
Our experienced emergency technicians arrive with equipment, materials, and safety gear to assess damage and begin stabilization immediately. The on-site evaluation documents the extent of damage through photos and detailed notes, identifies immediate threats to property and occupants, determines the cause of failure (critical for insurance claims), and establishes what emergency measures are required to secure the building. This thorough documentation helps streamline insurance claims and ensures you're not left arguing with adjusters about what happened.
Emergency Stabilization and Temporary Protection
Before permanent repairs can be scheduled and completed, we must secure your property against further damage. Emergency stabilization may include installing heavy-duty tarps secured with proper fastening to prevent wind uplift, temporary patching of punctures or tears using compatible materials, securing loose or lifted panels, shingles, or membrane sections, clearing blocked drainage systems on flat roofs, and setting up water diversion channels when interior leaks are active. We use commercial-grade materials and proper installation techniques, understanding that "temporary" protection must function reliably for days or weeks.
Detailed Damage Report and Repair Recommendations
Once emergency stabilization is complete, you receive a comprehensive assessment including documentation of all damage found, the probable cause of failure, description of emergency measures completed, detailed recommendations for permanent repairs, transparent cost estimates for permanent work, and complete photo documentation for insurance submission. We're transparent about whether the damage is repairable or whether roof replacement makes more sense given the extent of the problem and the age of your existing roof.
Permanent Repair Scheduling and Completion
When emergency work transitions to permanent repairs, we schedule at your earliest convenience and work efficiently to complete restoration using the same quality materials and installation standards as our full roofing installations. Whether we're replacing damaged sections of your metal roof, permanently repairing flat roof membrane damage, or replacing wind-damaged shingles, the work integrates seamlessly with your existing roof system and is backed by our comprehensive warranty.
